St. Valentine’s Dates: Some advice for the boys

It’s not like I’m the most experienced woman on earth to be giving these pieces of advice about dating, but I do remember some horrible dates and experiences… I will just share what I think those boys should have done… (or shouldn’t have…)

  • FOOD: We usually celebrate  every single important event with… FOOD! ^^  This is not the problem! The problem comes when a boy invites you to eat all the dinners you skipped to fit into that nice outfit you prepared for the special day. Boys, keep it simple, nice and delicious. We need to feel we look nice in our outfits. Women tend to need to control everything… and if our dress explodes… it won’t be a lovely Valentine’s memory.

  • PLACE: When you are with your special someone… the place isn’t very important. There’s only one experience I remember being super ugly when it comes to places for dates. I was young and my “date” was actually a very good friend. We went to have a “chorrillana” (A chorrillana is a very-unhealthy dish very popular in Valparaíso, my city. It consists of a pile of fries, egg+onion preparation on top, meat, sausages and “chorizo” cut into little squares… everything fried and put on top of the pile of fries). Me and my friend went to this little restaurant in Viña del Mar, and we ordered the restaurant’s specialty: “Chorrillana”. Since Chorrillana is a completely fried dish… and the restaurant was soo soo tiny, when we finished our meal, we smelled like a human Chorrillana. Don’t go to small places with the kitchen in front of you (or the restrooms).
  • CASH: Always carry some cash with you! You don’t want to be seen by your special one trying to fool the waiter by skipping giving tips.
  • DETAILS: If you have time, bring a little present for her. It’s always nice to see that your date took the time to think of a tiny detail for you. A flower will do, keep it simple… don’t write loooong letters or spend all your money in a present!
  • CLOTHING ETIQUETTE: And last but not least… dress for the occasion! Even if you are super comfy with your date and she is the friend/love of your life and you feel like you could wear pijamas with her without it being an issue… don’t do it! Be the boy of her dreams 🙂 A good shower, perfume and clean clothes is enough. Hahaha ^^

A nice funny video that inspired me to write this post… “The Night Changes” by One Direction. 😉
